Too old to drive?

Too old to drive?

As aging takes its degenerative toll on eyesight, hearing, reflexes and mental faculty, driving becomes a concern.

A senior citizen drove

on a motorcycle lane.

Some drove

against the traffic!

Concerns sparked.

Suppose one eyesight

is getting poorer,

especially on nights,

or against the glares?

Suppose one’s hearing

gets worse and can’t hear

vehicles horning behind?

Suppose one’s reflexes

become slower

with aging and stiff joints?

Independence and mobility

are vital for the

well-being of older people.

Should their driving licenses

be screened medically?

Should public transports

be easily and freely

available to them?

…without them trying

to cross the heavy traffic,

or to the bus stops?

Are the millions of

baby boomers

still driving?

  1. I definitely agree that seniors need to have their driving privileges reconsidered where it makes sense – for their safety and for others too.

I got my license late in life, in my early thirties. It was for the best! 😆
