Tomb visiting: Embracing life impermanence

Tomb visiting: Embracing life impermanence

A reminder of life impermanence (Photo by Arina Krasnikova on Pexels.com)

*****

Once I was cradled in your arm,

so warm, so comforting.

Once I was fed on your bosom,

so nourishing, so fulfilling.

Once I rode on your shoulder,

so happy, such fun!

Once I was created inside you,

such a wonder is life!

Now you both lie in here,

back to dust, back to earth,

embracing the truths of life,

such is, life impermanence!

This is a timely post for All Saints Day which we celebrate in Asia on November 1.

When I last visited the Philippines in 2010, I was taken aback at what a big deal this is. We spent an afternoon at the Cemetery. Some families make a whole day out of it, setting up picnics and even mahjong tables just to spend time with departed loved ones. A fascinating cultural event.
